After a break of nearly 12 years Andover AC now has a joint team with Team Kennett AC (based in Newbury) competing in Division 1 of the Southern Women's League.
This is a big step forward for the club and now means they can offer highly competitive opportunities for both males and females from eight years old to seniors.
Performance of the day went to Danni Horner, who looked smooth and fast over the 80m hurdles. She is rapidly improving and set her third personal best of the season with 13.1. It won't be long until Danni dips under the 13 second barrier.
First to compete for Andover was Christie Woodford in the U17 300m hurdles. This was the first time the young athlete had tackled the hurdles but performed extremely well to come second in 53.7. Christie proved why she is seen by many as an athlete for the future also by running the 400m. This was equally impressive considering she has never run a competitive 400m and was still fatigued from the hurdles.
Sprint sisters Clare and Grace Paterson competed in the 100m and 200m. Both were in the senior category and did well to stay at the front of the field. Clare took an impressive second in the A string race in a solid 12.9 with Grace recording 13.6.
A recent addition to the sprint squad at Andover AC - Hayley Spicer proved her recent training has paid off by recording 14.8. This was a fantastic performance from someone who has only been training for three months.

Clare and Grace stepped on the track again in the 200m and both ran an impressive race with Clare once again coming second in her second fastest time 26.4.
Pressure had been mounting all day for Danni, Christie, Clare and Grace. The quartet had previously tried to break the U17 4x 00m record and narrowly missed by 0.4 of a second and have worked hard on their changes and relay calls. The hard work showed and they were rewarded with a new club record of 54.2.
Andover AC also has a joint team with Basingstoke and Winchester in the National Junior League (U20) competing in the Itchen Division.
The highly talented Adam Harwood ran a pb of 53.8 in the 400m and 24.3 in the 200m. Fifteen-year old Ricky Taylor took to the challenge of the higher 400m hurdles and did a pb of 66.0. Ricky also competed in the discus throwing 16.87, but stole the show with a throw of 31.12 again a pb at this weight. Matt also competed in the shot (again heavier than usual) 8.89 a pb at this weight and did well in the 200m.
Andover AC is sponsored by CK Building Contractors.
