It’s a lark in the park

HUNDREDS of Romsey people made the most of a family fun day staged by the Friends of the War Memorial Park on Saturday.
The theme of the day was circus skills and parents and children had a chance to try their hands at such things as plate spinning, juggling and hula hooping.
There was also a kite making workshop and when the kites were successfully put to the test, the bright and breezy weather provided the perfect conditions.
Face-painting and a story teller added the fun and visitors also made the most of the opportunity to learn more about the park and its wildlife through guided walks by Phoebe Merrick of the Lower Test Valley Archaeology Society and Philip Liddell of Romsey Chamber of Trade.
Families were also handed questionnaires asking for their views on what the park needs and there was an overwhelming call for improved café and toilet facilities.
"We will be analysing their views and their requests and passing them on to Test Valley Borough Council
"But as a fun day, the event was extremely successful and, all being well, we will be back with another fun day next year," said Friends of the War Memorial Park secretary Dorothy Baverstock.
