RESCUERS freed a teenage girl trapped up to her knees in thick mud at Bartley.
Saturday morning's emergency happened on a triangle of land between Southampton Road, Lyndhurst Road and Beechwood Road. Police officers freed the girl who was with a group of friends at the time.
The girls flagged down a passing motorist who in turn alerted the emergency services. Hampshire firefighters were put on standby by were not needed at the scene.
