CAMPAIGNERS in favour of the megashed at Andover Airfield were drumming up support on Saturday with a stall at the town's market.

Supporters of the GO! campaign - which has been running for about a month - were encouraging passers-by to fill out supporting postcards which will be sent to Test Valley Borough Council to convince the planning committee the megashed is needed.

The GO! campaigners maintain the town needs the jobs and guaranteed investment to ensure future prosperity which would come from the Andover Airfield development.

"We are firmly in support of the proposed development of the Andover Air- field site," GO! foun- der member Kate Nightingale told the Andover Advertiser before Saturday's event.

"We believe there is a large silent majority in support of this development within the town.

"It will bring much needed investment and ensuing wealth.

"Andover doesn't just need this level of support but also deserves it."

GO!, which held its first public meeting on 24 September, hopes to gain enough support to show the borough council's planning committee that many Andover people want this major development.

The planning committee meets on 1 December at The Lights to make a final decision after the council's planning committee went against the recommendation of approval on 1 September.
