Andover College: Ofsted says the college is good.'
LESS than a year after Andover College mer-ged with Sparsholt College staff are celebrating following Of-sted's verdict that the college is good'.
The two colleges, which are viewed as one by Ofsted, was praised for its successful merger.
Communication across the two campuses is good with sound college finances.
It was also noted that actions taken to improve unsatisfactory provision ha-ve been successful - two curriculum areas judged unsatisfactory at the last inspection of the former Cricklade College are now satisfactory.
"Achievement and standards have improved but remain satisfactory overall," while "teaching and learning are now good across both college campuses," said the report.
The college has been advised to address learners' success rates, target setting and monitoring of learners' progress as well as increase the amount of teaching that meets the needs of all learners.

"The curriculum at Andover has been reconfigured to increase choice and better meet the needs of learners in north west Hampshire," added the report.
Ofsted inspectors also praised the specialist facilities at the two campuses, particularly the sixth form centre at Andover College.
"With broadly satisfactory success rates the college provides satisfactory value for money."
Specific curriculum areas were looked at by Ofsted including the science and mathematics courses offered at Andover. "The quality of teaching and learning has improved and is now satisfactory," the report said.
In 2006/07 success rates were high for GCSE human biology, maths and the free-standing maths qualification, and the current performance of A Level learners shows improvement.
Principal Tim Jackson said: "I am delighted that the college has been recognised as a well managed organisation with strong leadership.
"The report clearly demonstrates to the local community that Andover College is a great place to study, where the quality of learning and teaching on offer has been endorsed by Ofsted as being good across the whole college and identified as a key strength."
