Geared up: Andrea Woodcock who is on the Automotive Vehicle Servicing and Repair course at Sparsholt College.

A SHIPTON Bellinger teenager is proving that a career in mechanical engineering is not just for the boys.

Andrea Woodcock, aged 17, is in her final year of the Automotive Vehicle Servicing and Repair course at Sparsholt College and is set to pass with flying colours this month.

Ever since she was a little girl Andrea, who attended John Hanson Community School in Andover, has always had an interest in cars.

"My dad always encouraged me and I found it really easy to get into," she said.

"The course has been absolutely brilliant and very worthwhile. I'd definitely recommend other girls to do it."

Sparsholt College, near Winchester, is currently recruiting for next year's course beginning in Septem-ber.
