UPPER Clatford WI celebrated its 90th birthday recently with members hol-ding an anniversary exhibition and enjoying cream teas and strawberries.
The group has continued to operate throughout the 90 years - since the end of the First World War - and today runs a wide variety of activities designed to provide something for everyone.
WIs have something of a reputation for jams and cakes - and at Upper Clatford is it not undeserved.
"Looking back through the records there is an incidence of us making a hundredweight (112lbs) of jam," said spokeswoman Valerie Combes, who has been a member for 40 years.
"In the Second World War war we helped to raise money for a Spitfire and there is mention of us buying a canning machine to can fruit and vegetables. These days we chug along with a membership of about 30 people and aim to provide a number of extra-curricular activities."
The group held an anniversary dinner earlier this year.
