Police object to licence
A BROUGHTON man withdrew a personal licence application for the village's Tally Ho! pub after Hampshire Constabulary objected to it.
James Moloney, from Paynes Lane, had applied for a personal licence but because of an unspent drink/driving conviction from March 2005 Hampshire Constabulary objected.
Mr Moloney, the new owner of the pub, had also applied for the premise's licence to be transferred from the previous owners to himself and a new application for this has now been submitted to Test Valley Borough Council.
The two original applications were withdrawn the afternoon before the borough council's licensing sub- committee were due to meet to discuss the application.
A personal licence must be in place with someone in the premises and the pub already had a member of staff with one but Mr Moloney was wanting one for himself, according to a council spokesman.
Hampshire Constabulary believed issuing a personal licence to Mr Moloney would not be in accordance with Government guidance or council policy.
It would also undermine the Prevention of Crime and Disorder objective under the Licensing Act 2003.
