If you haven’t visited a Jobcentre for some time, you may be surprised how much they have changed over the last few years. New Jobcentre Plus offices offer a wide range of opportunities to anyone who is receiving benefits – as well as people wanting to change jobs or return to work after a break.

Services include support from specialist advisers if you have been away from work for some time bringing up your family or because you have a disability or a health problem. Advisers know how difficult it can be for people who have been away from work for some time, so they are there to support you every step of the way. Advisers can also put you in touch with organisations in your area that can help and support you when you are preparing to return to work.

A popular Jobcentre Plus service is Jobseeker Direct. People looking for new employment can use this service from home by calling 0845 6060 234 (Textphone 0845 6055 255).

Lines are open weekdays 8.00am - 6.00pm, and Saturdays 9.00am - 1.00pm. Calls are charged at local rates although mobile rates may vary.

Additionally there is the Jobcentre Plus website – the number one jobs website in the country. As well as searching for jobs at www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk, the site also has lots of information about the range of services offered by Jobcentre Plus.
